Robot Charlie supports children with diabetes

PAL: A social robot and its avatar provide support via a mHealth solution to children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) and their parents. Personal goals are set together with health care professionals and pursued by doing different activities together with the robot or the avatar.

Mood and body language of robot tutor ‘contagious’

Researcher Junchao Xu has shown that the mood and body language of a humanoid robot can be made recognizable to humans, and that the expression of these can have a positive effect on the interaction between robots and humans. Students attending a class given by a robot lecturer expressing a positive attitude found the class to be a resounding success.
